Climate Action North supercharges efforts to tackle climate crisis

Green world in a hand

Community Interest Company Climate Action North is supercharging its work in supporting key campaigns and events this September that are all focused on tackling the climate and ecological crisis.

Great Big Green Week, the Marine Conservation Society, Great British Beach Clean week, and the Global Week to #Act4SDGs all take place during September with thousands of events and activities helping communities take action to tackle climate change, protect green spaces, and encourage others to get involved.

Great Big Green Week runs from 24 September to 2 October and, as part of the campaign, Climate Action North will join a number of events to raise awareness of its One Small Change roadshows and mobilise climate action. This includes events with Durham Wildlife Trust, Quorum Business Park and a two-day eco festival in Sunderland.

This year’s Great British Beach Clean will take place between 16 to 25 September 2022. A citizen science event, it sees hundreds of beach cleans take place up and down the UK with the litter data collected used to support the Marine Conservation Society’s work. To mark the campaign, Climate Action North will supercharge efforts by organising litter picks as well as joining forces to assist Explore Seascapes in their beach cleans.

Climate Action North is also supporting the Global Week to #ACT4SDGS, which runs from 16 to 25 September. It involves a “week of scaling up engagement across the world across themes of climate, justice and peace – from igniting creativity, driving climate action, strengthening sustainable food systems, mobilising local governments, bringing together youth movements and much more, all remarkable actions that showcase a collective commitment to ensuring a more sustainable environment and planet.”

Climate Action North’s Managing Director, Sharon Lashley, said: “September is shaping up to be a very exciting and important month for positive climate actions and we’re pleased to be taking part in these campaigns and effectively supercharging our efforts to tackle the climate crisis. Climate change is one of the most important issues in our lifetime, and the power to heal the planet is very much in our hands.”
